I discovered my passion for clay at Carnegie Mellon University, receiving a degree in Fine Arts. My major was painting and minor was ceramics. Forty five years later, I am still "in the mud" creating functional and decorative stoneware pottery and loving it. In addition to traditional forms, I do alot of pierced cutwork creating intricate luminaries and votives that allow the light to be part of the design. I've been very lucky to have filled my adult life with the creativity I have been given.

About ten years ago, I needed another outlet for my interests, one that had more instant results than the long process of throwing, cutting, firing, glazing, and firing again. I started creating my own versions of Sailor's Valentines. I use beautiful natural shells from all over the world creating unique patterns and designs. I try to represent my ideas of contemporary design with the influence of the shells themselves and what they tell me in shape and color. Both crafts are very satisfying and fun.
